Price: $125.00 Adjusted Price: $0.00 Well, I think these magnificent bookends are some mythological creature. Having done my research, it appears they might possibly be a "Lion Sejant" ( lion sitting on haunches w/forpaws on the ground w/wings). Maybe a Griffin, but I don't think so. Very likely, just a carving of someone's imagination regarding a mythological winged lion. The bookends are carved of wood, very old, one wing is slightly cracked, and one wing has a broken wing tip, The finish is old, rubbed antique glazing. Along the way, someone has added a plastic base to help insert the bookend under a stack of books. Picked them up in some back alley in Europe long ago so don't know the origination. Not terrible old, or terrible important, but just right...charming, lovely, yet subtle bookends to add a bit of charm to your ever growing library. Size: 4.5"w x 8"t x 7"h. |
